Whenever you watch a television weather forecast broadcast and see the weatherman or woman in front of a weather map, you are seeing a keying backdrop in use. Keying is digital technology developed for special effects in television and movies. The special color of the background (chroma key) allows computers to put images or scenes behind the actor. This backdrop is sometimes referred to as a bluescreen or greenscreen.
